DILIP KUMAR
Born as Mohammad Yousuf Khan (11 Dec.1922), popularly known by his stage name Dilip Kumar, was one of the leading actors of the Hindi cinema. He along with Raj kapoor and Dev Anand ruled as leading stars for several decades. Referred to as the tragedy king and was also the first Khan of the Bollywood, he holds a record of winning 9 Filmfare awards for Best Actor. He debuted as an actor in the film Jwar Bhata in 1944. He acted in over 65 films. His noted films make a big list, but to mention a few are Jugnu (1947), Mela (1948), Andaz (1949), Babul (1952), Deedar (1951), Tarana (1951), Daag (1952), Aan (1952), Amar (1954), Devdas (1955), Azaad (1955), Naya Daur (1957), Madhumati (1958), Yahudi (1958), Kohinoir (1960), Mughal-e-Azam (1960), Gunga Jumna (1961), Ram Aur Shyam (1967), Kranti (1981) and Saydagar (1991).
He was Rajya Sabha member from 2000 to 2006. FDor his contribution to films the Govt. of India conferred on him the Padma Bhushan in 1991 and Padma Vibhushan in 2015. In 1994 he was awarded India's highest accolade in the field of cinema, the Dada Sahab Phalke Award.
In 1998, the Govt. of Pakistan conferred him with Nishan,-e-Imtiaz , the highest civilian decoration, making him the only Indian to have received the honour.
