HANUMAN CHALISA AND SUNDARA KANDA (IN TELUGU)

M.S.RAMA RAO (3rd July 1921 - 20th April 1992) was an Indian singer and composer. He was born in Moparru, Tenali, Andhra Pradesh. He was popular for his devotional songs especially SUNDARAKANDA in Telugu. Rama Rao debuted at World Telugu Conferece held in Hyderabad in 1975. He became popular for his Telugu version of Hanuman Chalisa. He also narrated Bala Kanda, Ayodhya Kanda and Sundara kanda ( some parts of the epic Ramayana) in the form of Songs in Telugu. He gained fame for singing the devotional songs and was awarded the name 'Sundara Dasu' in 1977.
He wrote Hanuman Chalisa and Sundarakanda in Telugu during 1972 - 74. ALL india radio, Hyderabad was broadcasting his singing of Sundararakanda in their early morning programmes
He was a playback singer and his movie career as singer spanned 1941 - 75 in Madras. Later he settled in Hyderabad where at the age of 70 he died. His works are published in the form of books and CDs.
TRIVIA:
During 70s when I was staying at Sanjeevareddy Nagar, Hyderabad, a programme was arranged by the residents when Sri M.S.Rama Rao was invited to present the Sundarakanda by singing, which went on for seven days. We attended all the seven days. There was a sale of his book on Sundarakanda. I purchased one and took his autograph on it. Later I presented the book to my mother for which she was very happy. Because of the radio programme M.S.Rama Rao was very popular through out.
Venu, being a staunch devotee of Lord Anjaneya wanted a CD of MS Rama Rao's Hanuman Chalisa, which I purchased and sent to him.
