PERCY FAITH(1908 - 1976)


Percy Faith was a Canadian band leader, orchestrator, composer and conductor, known for his lush arrangements of pop and christened standards. He is often credited with popularizing the 'easy listening ' or 'mood music' format. Born on 7th April 1908 at Toronto, Canada and died on 9th February, 1976 at Los Angeles, California, USA. His music genere includes Seasonal, Vocal/ easy listening.
Faith became a staple of Americas popular music in the 1950s and continued into the 1960s . Though his profession orchestra - leading career began at the height of the swinging era, Faith refined and rethought orchestration technique, including the use of large swing sections, to soften and fill out the brass dominated popular muic of 1940s.
Percy Faith placed 21 albums on the Billboard Hot 200 best sellers chart through 1972, making him one of the more successful easy listening acts sales wise.
Faith produced 81 albums and 37 singles.
