BILLY VAUGHN(1919 - 1997)

Billy Richard Vaughn (April 12, 1919 - Sept.26,1997)was an American Singer, multi instrumentalist, Orchestra leader and A & R man for Dot Records. He was active from 1952 - 1972.
In 1941, Vaughn joined the United States National Guard for what had been planned as a one year assignment , but when world war II broke out he was in for the duration as a valued musician and composer. After the war he wanted to make music as his career. When he was discharged from the army after the end of the war he attended the Western Kentuky state college (now Western Kentuky university), majoring in music compositions.
He has released about 50 albums and 92 singles.
Some of his famous singles include Melody of Love (1954); SailAlong the Silvery Moon (1957); La Paloma (1958); Blue Hawaii(1958); Chopsticks (1959); Look for a Star (1960); Theme from Come September (1961); Wheels (1961); Orange Blossom Special (1961); A Swinging Safari (1962); Theme from Summer Place (1963); Blue Tango (1964); Come Saturday Morning (1970).
