Queen(1970 - PRESENT) 

Queen is a British Rock Band formed in London in 1970.Their classic line up was Freddie Mercury (lead vocals, piano), Brian May (guitar, vocals), Roger Taylor (drums, vocals) and John Deacon (bass). Their earliest works were influenced by progressive rock, hard rock and Heavy Metal, but the band gradually ventured into more conventional and radio- friendly works by incorporating further styles, such as arena rock and pop rock.The band's 1977 album "News of the world" contained " We will Rock you" and "we are the Champions", which have become anthems at sporting events.
TRIVIA: (My memories)
In 2008, I was in Los Angeles with Suneeta. Once they took us to San Diego to see SEA WORLD. Jay was a small kid then and we used to take him in a pram (Stroller). There were several shows and exhibits of marine animals and the whole day we spent moving from one show to another. The most attractive one was the Dolphin and Whale show, where the trainers were performing feats with these marine animals. A large gathering was assembled at the show. In between the events a music was played in the speaker. To my astonishment all the audience started tapping, clapping ang singing along. I was not knowing that song and wondering 'unless it is extremely popular, how can so many people simultaneously sing along'.After coming out,I asked my son-in-law, Mr Srinivas,what song it was.He said 'It is -we will rock you -by Queen'.After reaching home the first thing I did was to download that song.
After returning to India, I asked my grandchildren Ajay and Vijay about this song,and they also replied correctly. Then it was my turn to ponder ' These youngsters are smarter, and when the song was so popular, was I the only ignorant fool left behind ? '
Later I understood that the song has gained the popularity as an anthem in sports and games event.
